Dirt, Displacement, and Data
Urban farming initiatives in vulnerable American communities have raised concerns for the emergence of a paradoxical condition, where a successful gardening project may lead to the displacement of the very people it is designed to serve. In this paper, we explore and assess this issue with an evidence-based interpretation of urban agriculture, neighborhood beautification, and displacement (2018, 2021).

Hydroponics and Aquaponics: Issues and Trends
What agricultural technologies and practices will feed the cities of the future while meeting customer demands and ensuring the health of ecological systems that sustain a livable world? There are many technologies and practices that can help increase agricultural yields and help humanity produce safe food in a more sustainable way. Hydroponics and aquaponics are two such production systems, broadly defined as removing plants from soil and more efficiently targeting water and nutrients to their roots. In the case of aquaponics, those nutrients are made available through co-located fish farming (2013, 2015, 2021).
